The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all agency operations and initiatives within their assigned city on behalf of the African American Male Wellness Agency. This role ensures that the agency’s mission is carried out effectively and sustainably through leadership in business development, staff management, program execution, budgeting, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development & Fiscal Responsibility
- Lead efforts to meet fiscal goals through sponsorships, donations, grants, and contracts.
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies including grants, sponsorships, donor relations, and corporate partnerships.
2. Staff Oversight & Accountability
- Ensure all staff perform their duties as outlined in job descriptions.
- Provide supervision for project managers, coordinators, and other direct reports.
- Conduct staff evaluations, manage promotions, and recommend additional compensation.
- Oversee budgeting, compliance, HR functions, and internal systems to maintain organizational efficiency and sustainability.
3. Budget & Financial Management
- Create and manage annual and 24-month operating budgets.
- Ensure all invoices are properly submitted, tracked, and paid on time.
- Maintain budget alignment with project deliverables and agency standards.
4. Community & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, funders, and local partners.
- Serve as a lead spokesperson and ambassador for the agency at conferences, media appearances, and community forums.
5. Program Execution & Project Management
Oversee the planning and execution of key agency initiatives, including:
- Black Men’s Wellness Day
- Dads Matter Day
- Cooking with Dads
- Real Men Real Talk
- Other assigned initiatives
Ensure programs are data-driven, culturally relevant, and aligned with community needs.
Use project management tools to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
6. Policy & Compliance
Enforce adherence to all agency policies, including:
- Attendance
- Reporting
- Documentation
7. Organizational Development & Culture
- Provide a safe, fair, and professional work environment.
- Support employee growth through training and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the President and Board of Directors to implement long-term strategic plans and impact-driven initiatives.
8. Agency Expansion
- Develop new programming to expand the agency’s reach and impact.
- Support strategic growth focused on Black men and their families.
9. Travel & Cross-Coverage
- Minimal travel is required.
- May be asked to support other cities or regions as needed.
10. Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned that require senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit, health-related organization or sales experience.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising and financial management.
- Strong understanding of health disparities and issues affecting Black men.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and build strong partnerships.
- Passion for health equity and community empowerment.
