Los Angeles: Senator Laphonza Butler is seeking a Field Representative for her Los Angeles office. Primary responsibilities include: developing knowledge of and informing the Senator about state and regional issues with an emphasis on Los Angeles and other Southern California county-based assignments; working with the Senator’s state and legislative staff to recommend solutions to state and regional problems with a federal nexus; conducting outreach to constituents, local elected officials, and community organizations within assigned counties; representing the Senator at events and meetings and sharing information about her legislative agenda; planning and staffing the Senator at meetings and events within the region; conducting research; and drafting correspondence. The ideal candidate will have experience working for other nonprofits, elected officials, campaigns, or in community relations, with a strong emphasis on event planning and community outreach. Essential skills include excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication as well as the ability to work with diverse groups and viewpoints.
