Job Description
We’re seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial Finance Director to lead and scale the fundraising operation of what is expected to be one of the most closely watched red-to-blue House races in the country. With a competitive primary and a high-stakes general election ahead, we’re building a team capable of powering a winning campaign—and fundraising is at the core of that effort.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, proactive, and thrives in fast-moving, high-accountability environments. This is not a role for someone waiting on directions—it’s for someone ready to take full ownership, present creative solutions, and execute with urgency and precision.
⸻
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and manage a high-performing fundraising program with a goal of raising $300,000+ per quarter from a diverse network of donors beyond the candidate’s personal contacts.
• Collaborate with fundraising consultants and digital firms to plan, execute, and optimize the campaign’s finance strategy.
• Own all financial planning and analysis, including:
• Tracking cash on hand (COH), burn rate, and ROI
• Monitoring budget health and revenue pacing
• Managing and projecting fundraising goals by source/channel
• Donor management: oversee call time prep and follow-up, manage high-dollar donor pipelines, and execute bundler cultivation programs.
• Drive innovation in fundraising approaches, including testing and integrating new digital tools, social fundraising strategies, and virtual or in-person events.
• Develop reports and dashboards that help inform strategic decisions and budget prioritization.
• Be a leader within the campaign, proposing ideas and improvements, managing up when needed, and executing with minimal hand-holding.
⸻
Must-Haves:
• Prior campaign finance experience at the congressional or statewide level
• Deep knowledge of FEC compliance and campaign finance tracking tools (e.g., NGP)
• Strong quantitative skills and an ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, self-starting attitude
⸻
Nice-to-Haves:
• Existing donor or bundler relationships you can bring into the campaign
• Prior experience working on competitive New Jersey races
• Familiarity with digital fundraising and collaboration with social/digital teams
• Track record of integrating creative and flexible fundraising tactics
⸻
Why This Race?
This is one of the most high-profile congressional races in the country. It’s a true red-to-blue pickup opportunity in a district that national ratings have called a toss-up. With local support secured, a strong launch, and momentum building, we’re positioned to emerge as the early frontrunner in the primary—and a top-tier challenger in the general.
If you’re looking to make a real impact, work with a mission-driven team, and lead a modern, metrics-driven fundraising operation—this is your opportunity.
