Description:The world's leading aerospace and defense company is seeking a strategic communications professional who will be responsible for providing communications and beltway advocacy support for the company's Government Affairs organization.
The successful candidate will have 3- 5 years of professional communications experience on Capitol Hill or with the media in the Washington, D.C., region. The role will partner with our media relations and digital teams to support the Lockheed Martin story across a variety of communications channels. This role requires an ability to navigate ambiguous situations with minimal guidance. The candidate should be able to prioritize competing tasks and inform leadership of situations requiring their immediate attention and action. The candidate should move with velocity, pace, and intensity to deliver results in the demanding Washington, DC environment.
This position reports to the Director, Public Affairs and Communications, Lockheed Martin Government Affairs, and is based in Crystal City, Virginia.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. LMGA communications campaign support.
2. LMGA communications liaison to online communications team.
3. Support and Interface with media monitoring/rapid response team.
4. Write media plans for LMGA and communications campaigns.
5. External events planning and execution for state, local and federal clients.
6. Media relations at external events.
7. Draft communications content such as talking points and messaging for government affairs campaigns.
8. Conduct and support media monitoring services
9. Develop, write and execute integrated strategic communications plans to support business and government affairs program
Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
2. Public affairs/media experience on Capitol Hill or in the media.
3. Minimum 5 years of professional communications experience
4. Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
5. Ability to work with senior Washington DC executives, media and government leadership.
6. Experience developing integrated communications plans.
7. Strategic thinking and sound judgment.
8. Creativity, innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit.
9. Ability to work on a collaborative team and bridge organizational boundaries.
10. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, evolving priorities.
Desired Skills:
Previous employment on Capitol Hill, a government affairs communications team, or with the media preferred.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
