The Boeing Company is seeking a Government Operations Manager to join the Government Operations (GovOps) team in Sacramento, CA.
The GovOps team works to improve Boeing’s operating environment and the communities in which Boeing operates. We accomplish this through advocacy, charitable investments, community and government relations, grassroots efforts and related activities. As Boeing’s GovOps representative in Sacramento and Northern California, you will lead the California team’s efforts to meet the needs of Boeing and the community by representing the company in the region.
Specific job functions include: managing relationships with elected officials and their staff, tracking legislation, developing and supporting the Boeing Political Action Committee (BPAC) strategy and political mobilization efforts. Other functions involve investing in strategically aligned programs with nonprofits and engaging with business trade associations on behalf of the company. Additionally, you will lead employee community engagement opportunities and support employee giving initiatives in the region as needed. You will also serve as subject matter expert for local community issues and provide recommendations to ensure effective community engagement.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, peers, internal leaders and external partners, including government, community and nonprofit leaders
Represents the company as directed across the region, including in public settings (e.g., legislative hearings, trade associations, Boeing-sponsored community events, etc.)
Manages Government Operations priorities and provides subject matter expertise to GovOps and other company leaders who manage and participate in external relationships
Influences decision makers and stakeholders by providing information related to issues, communicating effects and providing recommendations in order to best represent the interests of the company
Develops and implements actionable and measurable community investment, business sponsorship and advocacy plans that align to corporate strategies and ensures effective use of company resources
Identifies how community involvement can support business objectives
Develops and implements execution plans, ensuring that all activities align to GovOps strategy and support the Boeing brand
Builds strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships to resolve problems
Improves processes and achieves operational and strategic goals
This position requires detailed knowledge of and relationships with government and community leaders in California including elected officials and staff, civic and trade associations, business and nonprofit leaders and the general public. The position also requires significant cross-functional collaboration with GovOps staff, as well as with Communications, Human Resources (HR), Ethics, Higher Education Relations and Boeing subsidiaries.
Frequent regional travel to support events sponsored or otherwise supported by Boeing is required, as well as periodic travel outside of the Northern California region to attend meetings and events. Attendance is expected at community events and functions that often occur after business hours and on weekends. Prior experience with corporate or community relations is desirable.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher
5+ years' experience in Politics, Campaigns, Public affairs and/or issue advocacy
5+ years' experience working on State & Local public policy issues and federal, state, or local political campaigns
Capability to travel up to 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years' experience working on grassroots advocacy programs on behalf of industry or specific programs and/or legislation
5+ years' communications work experience
Experience in corporate philanthropy, charitable giving, and/ or community engagement

Summary pay range: $128,350 – $173,650
