Position Description:
Juma seeks a talented Grant Associate/Manager (Southern Region) with a track record of success in institutional funder relationship building, grant research, writing, administration and reporting to serve as a key member of our Development team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Associate/Manager will be responsible for maintaining key resources such as up-to-date research and boilerplate language. The Grant Associate/Manager will have responsibility for maintaining the development team drive and will work closely with the Director of Learning and Evaluation(LEV), and the finance team to collect supporting information for grant proposals and reports. The Grant Associate/Manager will support the development team by leading grant proposals for the Atlanta and Houston sites and will also assist writing grant proposals and reports for other Juma sites as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Grant Writing
- In close collaboration with the Juma’s Development team and program staff, create compelling Letter of Interest (LOI) and grant proposals for Juma Atlanta and Houston by
- Writing and assembling most or all sections of a grant proposal, with key input from program staff;
- Coordinating with relevant staff in order to solicit timely and appropriate input/review of grant proposals prior to submission deadlines;
- Reviewing guidelines for all foundation proposals and reports to make sure all submissions are accurately formatted and include all required information, including budgets and additional attachments.
Prospect Research & Stewardship
- Build and maintain Southern region pipeline through research, outreach, regular meetings, conferences etc...
- Maintain institutional donor relationships and keep track of information, contacts and grant records in Salesforce.
Data
- Work with Chief Programs and Grants Officer(CPGO), Juma sites, and the Learning and Evaluation team to monitor and update program outcomes every quarter.
- Maintain program outcomes in an easily accessible format to be accessed for grant reports and proposals.
Other
- Assist with production of department collateral such as the Annual Report.
- Assist development department by writing grants and funder communications for other sites as needed.
- Support general fundraising activities, as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the nonprofit philanthropic, private or public sector
- Proven track record in managing relationships with corporations, foundations and governments
- Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
- Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
- Self-starter, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations; ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and inclusive environment.
