OPPORTUNITY
This Innovation Specialist will join another Innovation Specialist hired in 2022-23. They will begin their work at Green Dot more than twenty years after we opened our first school and a decade after we formally codified our academic model. In the last few years Green Dot has undergone extensive change. You will work together to formally codify our Academic Model. Working with senior members of our Ed Team, the Innovation Specialists will also create and lead an iterative process to ensure the Academic Model is updated for both internal and external audiences each year. The Ed Team Innovation Specialist will also support Green Dot’s work in evolving our schools to offer a more unique student experience and define their space in LA’s competitive school choice landscape. In collaboration with the Green Dot Education Team, the Innovation Specialist will help to identify a focus (e.g., STEM, Leadership, etc.) and imbue that focus across the curriculum and school experience. At once, a big picture thinker, hands-on implementer, excellent communicator, system savvy problem solver and great collaborator, the Innovation Specialist works for the Green Dot CA Education Team and reports to the Sr. Coordinator of Innovation and Instructional Technology. This is a grant funded, two-year position ending on 6/30/25.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Innovation (ModelFlex) and Learning Acceleration
> Support the change management process for schools looking to flex on their current academic model to meet the needs of their school community.
> Collaborate with school leaders, Green Dot’s counseling team and local colleges to offer a fully developed dual enrollment or CTE program
> Collaborate with Green Dot’s curriculum team on master schedule and pathway changes
> Support a plan for collection and celebration of student work (portfolios, etc.)
> Collaborate with outside marketing agency in iterating on a recruitment campaign
> Support and collaborate on existing innovation projects as needed
Instructional Technology
> Support with the implementation of select, new instructional technology applications
> Support with the codification of guiding materials related to new instructional technology applications
> In partnership with the Innovation team, you will also act as the Green Dot Point of Contact for a selection of Green Dot Instructional Technology applications
ModelFlex Community Schools
In 2022-2023, Green Dot was the recipient of several Community Schools Grants awards.
> You will support the Innovation Team with creating a training scope and sequence for Community Schools Coordinators
> Welcome a new cohort of Community Schools Grantees and support with the development of their strategic plans
> Support schools as they mobilize families and stakeholders around their Community School Grant work
Codification of the Green Dot Academic Model
> Research the various elements of the Green Dot Academic Model
> Lead the Green Dot Academic model codification project
> Work in collaboration with various department directors, VPs and chiefs to synthesize their materials
> Develop internal and external Green Dot Academic Model resources and materials
> Collaborate with the Green Dot communication team to support updates to the Green Dot website and other materials requests that relate to our model
QUALIFICATIONS
As an ideal candidate, you
> are a self-directed, strategic thinker
> possess a valid teaching credential and a minimum of five years of classroom experience and demonstrated success
> have school leadership experience (as a teacher leader or administrator)
> have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
> possess strong organization skills and the ability to support others in remaining organized and on track
> are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
> will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
> will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (submission of proof of vaccination will be required)

COMPENSATION
The starting salary for this position is $75,000 - $85,000, based on education and experience. In addition, if this hire is made by June 30, 2023, the position qualifies for a $2,500 signing bonus, to be paid in two installments (subject to change).
