Job Description
The Policy & Communications Intern at the Colorado Parent Advocacy Network (CPAN) plays a key role in supporting our mission to protect parental rights and restore transparency in education across Colorado. This position is ideal for a driven, detail-oriented student or recent graduate who is passionate about advocacy, public policy, and grassroots organizing. Success in this role means taking initiative, communicating effectively, and contributing to high-impact campaigns that defend Colorado families. Interns will work closely with CPAN’s Executive Director and contribute to strategic projects that elevate the voices of parents, influence public policy, and support families in crisis.
Responsibilities
Support planning and logistics for press conferences, advocacy events, and community summits
Monitor state and local policy developments affecting education and parental rights
Draft and edit communications, including email campaigns, social media posts, and advocacy alerts
Conduct research to support media, legal, or legislative projects
Attend public hearings, stakeholder meetings, and Capitol events as assigned
Collaborate with the Executive Director on tailored projects related to advocacy, outreach, and organizational growth
Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Passion for education, policy, and parental rights
Self-motivated and able to manage time independently
Experience in research, communications, or event coordination (preferred but not required)
Ability to work 8–15 hours per week, (part time)
Students pursuing or holding a degree in Political Science, Communications, Education, Public Policy, Law, or a related field are especially encouraged to apply
Based in Colorado (hybrid internship)
