The Office of City Councilmember Kent Lee welcomes paid interns through the City of San Diego’s Employ & Empower program. Interns gain hands-on experience in public service, local government, and the daily operations of a Council office. Under the supervision of Community team staff, interns assist with constituent services, community outreach, policy research, administrative support, and special projects. Responsibilities include attending community events, distributing resources throughout District 6, observing Council and Committee meetings, and completing a summer data analysis project presented to stakeholders.
Interns also participate in team-building activities, field trips, and one-on-one mentoring sessions designed to strengthen professional skills and expand career pathways. This position is ideal for students who are eager to learn, resourceful, independent, and committed to serving the public.
