Description

  

The Public Affairs Specialist supports on-site execution of federal and Department of Defense construction projects. Working under the direction of the Site Lead, this role is responsible for assisting with field coordination, documentation, quality control, and stakeholder communication. The position follows JANSON’s Site Lead Playbook, ensuring disciplined execution, compliance, and alignment with brand and operational standards.

The ideal candidate is all contractor personnel shall possess an active Secret security clearance or be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Personnel without an active clearance may perform unclassified preparatory work while clearance processing is underway.. 

Key Responsibilities

· Support daily field operations, including installation oversight, inspections, and coordination of project activities 

· Assist in maintaining compliance with executed contracts, Statements of Work (SOW), and approved project documents 

· Prepare and submit daily field reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness 

· Maintain and organize key project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, safety records, and schedules 

· Track project progress against baseline schedules and report potential delays or risks 

· Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and government stakeholders to ensure effective communication 

· Support quality control processes to ensure work meets project specifications and safety standards 

· Identify and escalate risks, contributing to mitigation planning and execution 

· Assist in implementing safety procedures and Emergency Action Plans on-site 

· Support leadership site visits by preparing project updates, including schedule status, safety reporting, and risk summaries 

· Ensure all activities align with JANSON branding, communication standards, and execution protocols

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or actively pursuing final year) 

· Basic understanding of construction principles, drawings, and specifications 

· Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills 

· Effective written and verbal communication skills 

· Proficiency in: 

· Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) 

· Basic construction/project management software 

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and submittals 

· Willingness and ability to work in active construction environments 

· Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance (as required for federal/DoD projects) 

· Understanding of workplace safety standards (OSHA awareness)

Preferred Experience

  • Internship or prior experience on construction sites (commercial,      federal, or infrastructure projects) 
  • Exposure to federal or DoD project environments 
  • Familiarity with: RFI and submittal processes, Construction      scheduling tools (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar), Quality      control and punch list management 
  • Experience supporting: Daily reporting and field documentation. Coordination      with subcontractors and inspectors 
  • Knowledge of: USACE or NAVFAC project requirements. EM 385-1-1      safety standards 
  • Experience with digital construction tools (Procore, Autodesk Build,      Bluebeam, etc.) 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred but not required) 
  • Exposure to cybersecurity compliance requirements in government      projects
