Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) seeks a Legislative Director to manage the legislative team and oversee the development and execution of her policy agenda. The Legislative Director is responsible for directing all aspects of the office’s legislative work, ensuring the Member’s priorities are advanced in Congress and aligned with the needs of the district.

This position requires excellent management skills, strong political judgment, and the ability to coordinate across a wide range of policy areas. The Legislative Director will supervise legislative staff, provide strategic direction, and ensure the office delivers high-quality legislative work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor the legislative staff, setting clear goals and supporting professional development.
  • Develop and implement the Congresswoman’s legislative plan to advance her priorities and district needs.
  • Oversee drafting of legislation, amendments, memos, and floor statements.
  • Monitor congressional and administration actions, providing timely updates and recommendations.
  • Coordinate the Member’s committee work and collaborate with Committee and Caucus staff.
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff, communications staff, and district team to align policy, messaging, and constituent services.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders, advocacy organizations, and government agencies.
  • Ensure timely and effective responses to constituent correspondence and inquiries related to legislation.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing a legislative portfolio and supervising staff.
  • Strong knowledge of House procedure, floor operations, and committee process.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead a team, juggle multiple priorities, and deliver results under pressure.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational skills and sound judgment.

 This is a senior management position within the office. Previous Hill experience is strongly preferred but not strictly required. New Hampshire ties are a plus. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
