Job Description
Capitol Counsel is seeking a fulltime Natural Resources legislative aide to help manage its growing forestry and wildfire practice. The successful candidate will have direct experience working on Western issues for an entity with direct Western interests, Hill experience preferred. Wildfire and forestry experience a huge plus. The successful candidate must be a motivated self-starter.
Candidates with no demonstrated experience in Natural Resources issues are encouraged not to apply.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Interact with Republican and Democratic staff and Members in both personal offices and on relevant committees
2. Interact with staff at USDA/USFS and DOI
3. Track legislation.
4. Cover hearings, prepare memos
5. Track news related to wildfire and forestry
6. Interact with clients
7. Ability to travel long distances on short notice
Skills:
1. Strong writing and reading comprehension
2. Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite
3. Excellent interpersonal skills
