ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Plans and plays a lead role in the organization's major giving program.
- Researches major gift donor prospects for giving potential and interest areas.
- Manages a portfolio of donors for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Uses Moves Management practices to achieve fundraising goals.
- Grows relationships with major gift donors. In doing so, identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set by the foundation and at levels defined by the foundation.
- Develops a donor solicitation strategy for major gift prospects that matches prospects' interests to the priorities of the organization.
- Designs and operates a donor stewardship program.
- Tracks and assesses major gift fundraising metrics.
- Working with the Philanthropy leader, enlists senior management in furthering the major gifts program; educates and supports management with respect to their development leadership roles.
- Assists in the creation of donor proposals and memorandum of agreement documents.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with foundation colleagues to maximize total gift revenue.
- Coordinates program-specific development strategies and activities to ensure their integration into the overall foundation program.
- Makes effective use of the prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, and volunteers in coordination with department objectives.
- Participates in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge, including legal and ethical issues, by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
