Job Description
A conservative political organization is seeking a Development Director to build and manage a new planned giving and bequests portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, this person will be responsible for launching the organization’s planned giving program and owning the full cycle of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and closing.
This is not the organization’s senior-most fundraising role. It is a focused development position for someone who can take ownership of a new, high-value portfolio and turn it into a durable fundraising program. The Director will work closely with senior fundraising leadership while personally driving the strategy, pipeline, donor conversations, materials, and follow-up needed to secure legacy gifts, bequests, estate commitments, and other planned giving vehicles.
The ideal candidate has direct experience launching, managing, or growing a planned giving program; understands how to identify high-potential donors; and can confidently make the case for long-term investment in the conservative movement. This is a builder role requiring strong donor judgment, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to move prospects from initial interest to signed commitments.
Key responsibilities include developing the organization’s planned giving strategy, identifying and qualifying prospects, building trusted donor relationships, pitching legacy giving opportunities, closing commitments, tracking the pipeline, and helping establish the systems needed to make planned giving a lasting part of the organization’s fundraising operation.
Strong candidates will have experience in political, advocacy, nonprofit, charitable, or mission-driven fundraising; a proven record of closing major or planned gifts; comfort discussing estate and legacy giving; and deep alignment with conservative principles.
