The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office for Nonprofit Services engages with and supports both New York City’s nonprofit
sector and City agencies that contract with nonprofit partners. Among its core functions, the Office
serves as a hub to engage and communicate critical information to nonprofits, develop and deliver a
capacity-building program to support nonprofits to more easily contract with the City, research the
health of the sector, and coordinate activities to advance the recommendations of the Joint Task Force
to Get Nonprofits Paid on Time
The Problems You’ll Solve
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Policy Advisor will coordinate projects with support, the
specific job duties may involve the following:
- Project manage key aspects of the nonprofit procurement reform initiative in partnership
with the Mayor’s Office for Contract Services (MOCS); provide support to Executive and
Deputy Directors, as needed;
- Lead periodic check-ins with contracting agencies and MOCS to maintain awareness of
nonprofit procurement-related projects and help resolve any operational issues.
- Perform research and develop policy recommendations for pressing issues affecting the
nonprofit sector in New York City;
- Organize and schedule interagency group meetings;
- Assist with public communication, including preparing materials for newsletters, press
announcements, speeches and other engagements, in coordination with the Mayor’s Press
Office; and
- With support from Executive and Deputy Directors, coordinate with the Mayor’s Office of
Intergovernmental Affairs to develop State and Federal legislative strategies.

- You have 2 + years of experience in City government and/or nonprofit administration;
- You have enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic team culture;
- You have experience working with nonprofits and understanding of the organizational
- You have a proven record of managing competing priorities in a high-pressure environment;
- You are a great communicator (both written and verbally)
- You can interface effectively with professionals at all levels of the organization.
- You have the ability to think creatively and clearly communicate complicated issues;
- You have the ability to complete work independently with broadly defined work objectives
- You have a demonstrated commitment to equity and public service
- You can work a flexible work schedule.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary,
equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is
$ 60,000 – $ 80,000.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
factors.
