Job Description

The Democratic staff of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee seeks a Policy Analyst to lead the committee’s work on climate change. He/she will focus primarily on the economic costs of climate change and examine economic policies designed to mitigate its impacts. Will also work on other issues as needed. The person will research and write reports, policy memos and other materials; lead preparation and write briefing documents for Congressional hearings; and collaborate with other congressional committees and stakeholders working on climate issues. A qualified candidate must be able to demonstrate substantial knowledge of climate change, and economic policies to help mitigate it, including carbon pricing and others. Previous work experience and substantial coursework on climate and energy policy strongly preferred. In addition, he or she should have excellent analytical and research skills; be able to convey complex information to a non-expert audience; and write clearly. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years of experience working in government or at a think tank or nonprofit. Hill experience is preferred but not required.
