Job Summary
We seek a Policy and Engagement Manager to support the development and implementation of policy initiatives and resident engagement programs at Christian Church Homes (CCH) sites. This position reports to the Director of Policy and Engagement. Key responsibilities are to increase engagement with residents and community partners and maintain and strengthen connections. This includes visiting CCH sites in the Bay Area, discussing upcoming policy initiatives and ballot measures, organizing relevant community events, and connecting residents to larger regional and statewide advocacy efforts. This is a hybrid position, based on current CCH policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with residents, Social Service Coordinators, and other site staff to engage with residents at sites around policy and community engagement
- Identify and cultivate relationships with residents, staff, and community partners through strategic, coordinated outreach efforts and by attending community meetings and events
- Coordinate activities and special events in partnership with residents and community partners, including ‘Get Out the Vote’, an annual advocacy day, and other events.
- Plan and facilitate trainings, community meetings and programs at sites and/or within neighborhoods near sites, with a minimum of 2 events at each CCH property per year
- Coordinate with city officials to ensure compliance with legal regulations regarding community events
- In partnership with Director of Policy and Engagement, prepare an annual budget for community outreach events
- Create community outreach plans that engage the community in programs designed to meet specific needs in their community
- Participate in internal meetings, calls and trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of community organizing and community engagement
- B.A. degree or commensurate level of experience, preferably with an emphasis on community development/housing, faith-based community organizing, and/or policy campaigns
- Proficient in taking the initiative and working independently as well as with a team
- Intercultural sensitivity and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Proven track record of exercising good judgement in a variety of situations
- Experience collaborating with and/or organizing with the faith-based community

- Position requires local travel in the normal course of performing job duties with mileage reimbursement
- A valid driver license, reliable personal vehicle, personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are essential job requirements.
Reporting + Organizational Relationships
This position will report directly to the Director of Policy and Engagement and supervises the day-to-day activities and staff of one or more functional areas within a department and performs related work as required.
Compensation & Classification
CCH is committed to paying competitive wages. The salary range for this position is $66,560-$70,000. CCH has a competitive benefits package with health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 8% of an employer contribution for retirement, and more. This is a full-time, exempt position. This position is based at the CCH Central Office - Walnut Creek.
