Delta Corporate Communications is looking for a communications professional with a passion for public policy and strategic storytelling, to manage and execute integrated communications plans as part of our policy communications team.


Based in Washington, D.C. or Atlanta, this role will report to Delta’s General Manager – Government and Policy Communications and work closely with Delta’s business partners from Government Affairs to execute strategic communications plans on key policy initiatives.


The right candidate for this position will have a keen understanding of the political and policy landscape and will work to manage and support internal and external communications on public policy issues of critical importance to the company.


This role will help to ensure Delta’s point of view is reflected in media coverage with key outlets and will also work to support internal communications to educate Delta people on critical policy initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining constructive relationships with senior-level stakeholders, partners, and key traditional and social media organizations.


Strong project management skills are a must to help keep momentum on strategic initiatives involving multiple teams and executives and that often involve quickly moving issues.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute integrated policy communications plans with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Write skillfully on public policy in a clear, crisp, compelling way.
  • Engage in proactive media relations with the Washington press corps as well as state and local media to ensure Delta's point of view is prominent in coverage of key policy issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third party validators to ensure independent, credible support for Delta's point of view.
  • Always looking for new approaches and enterprising storylines and ideas to tell the Delta story more effectively to the policy audiences.

What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive responsibility in the field of communications, with a focus on public policy.
  • Congressional, executive branch, corporate or crisis experience desired.
  • Creativity, strategic and conceptual thinking, detail-orientation, project management and execution skills, a commitment to results, and the ability to perform well in a matrix environment.
  • Be able to manage and navigate complex organizational structures and work well with executives at all levels.
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Policy or Communications- related field
  • Campaign, Hill or policy communications experience a plus.
