Job Description

The National Association for Hispanic Elderly/Asociacion Nacional Pro Personas Mayores (NAFHE/ANPPM) is looking for a new President. The President is responsible for the management, health and growth of the organization.  


NAFHE/ANPPM is a national non-profit organization headquartered in Pasadena, Calif. and has eight regional offices covering various counties in Arizona, California, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania. 


Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of upward of 30 staff based at headquarters and in the field

  • Manage all aspects of NAFHE/ANPPM’s participation in Department of Labor’s Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) grant program

  • Represent the organization at conferences, events and in national coalitions

  • Oversee development and finances for a membership organization

  • Track local, state, and federal legislation

  • Lead external communicator, development and maintain relationships with members of the media, and serve as an issue expert for media requests and interviews

  • Author, edit, and pitch stories and opinion pieces for traditional and new media

  • Create, launch and participate in issue advocacy campaigns 

  • Develop negotiate and manage business relationships with vendors

  • Create, manage, and track organizational budget

  • Maintain and create relationships with national not-for-profit organizations, elected officials and civil servant within local, state, and federal administrations and agencies

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience in the federal government and or non-profit organizations

  • Experience leading teams for non-profit organizations and within the federal government

  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Expert in the procurement, use, and introduction of new technologies to advance organizational goals and growth

  • Managing and participation in political, issue advocacy, and communications campaigns 

  • Expert communicator with experience as an organizational spokesperson in the media, with elected officials and at conferences and external meetings

  • Experience in creating, developing and working with publicity and polling firms on messaging for issue advocacy campaigns

  • Experience in writing, seeking and managing grants national and local private foundations and other grant making institutions

  • Developing private donor relationships with both individuals and national member-based organization

  • Managing, developing and creating organizational budgets from multiple income streams including restricted and unrestricted sources in line with local, state, and federal laws and guidelines

  • Self-starter with experience working with and leading staff both in person and virtually

  • Background or experience in the federal grant making process as well as monitoring and evaluation

  • Developing, creating and writing communications products and solutions including but not limited to videos, websites, social media graphics and clips, and public information documents

  • Expert in cloud-based IT solutions both in the private sector and for government agencies

  • Public speaking and participation in national, state, and local coalitions

  • Proficient in managing projects and teams with Microsoft Office 365 

  • Virtual meeting technology, both hosting and participating

  • Bachelor or above degree 

  • Domestic and regional travel required
