The office of Representative Eugene Vindman is seeking a dedicated and experienced press assistant to join a dynamic communications team. Strong candidates will have stellar writing, editing, and social media skills in addition to a can-do attitude. The role supports the communications team in the execution of the office’s strategy and communications goals. This role is based in Washington DC and has an annual salary of $55,000.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work with the press secretary and communications director to build and maintain the Congressman’s brand as a principled leader.

• Implement franking strategy set by the press secretary, communications director, and chief of staff through direct mail, email, digital, and social media.

• Create and implement clear, consistent, and creative social media content, graphics, and explainers.

• Assist in writing speeches, press releases, newsletters, and more.

• Work with the press secretary and communications director to prepare and staff the Congressman at events in the District and on the Hill.

• Manage news clips for the internal team.

• Stay updated on current social media trends, breaking news, and newsworthy events in the Seventh District.

• Clip and caption TV appearances, floor speeches, long and short form videos, and more.

• Work with the legislative team to ensure accuracy and detail in all written materials.

• Build and maintain relationships with the internal team.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong skillset in explaining hard to understand topics in easy-to-understand language.

• Deliver a stellar work product when meeting quick deadlines.

• Strong political acumen.

• Experience on Capitol Hill or politics is preferred but not required. 

• Energized by a team that moves quickly and expects excellence.

• Expertly manage a high volume of projects with tight turnaround and zero ego.

• Comfortable with feedback and quick content turnaround. 

• Attention to detail and stellar organization are a must.

• Ties to Virginia are a plus.

• Experience with a candidate, elected leader, or similar principal is a plus.
