Job Description
The Office of Representative Jim Himes (CT-04) is seeking a creative and highly organized Press Assistant/Digital Assistant (PA/DA) to join his Washington, D.C. office. The PA/DA will play a central role in shaping the Member’s social media presence and written communications efforts. The PA/DA will report to the Deputy Communications Director and work closely with the communications team to execute a holistic strategy that highlights the Member’s committee and district work.
Duties include:
- Creating consistent, compelling content for various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Substack, YouTube, and others
- Filming direct-to-camera videos with the Member
- Photographing the Member at events
- Managing and updating the Member’s official website
- Drafting regular newsletters and surveys
- Monitoring social media trends
- Identifying new media and creator collaboration opportunities
This position requires a strong background in graphic design and video editing, familiarity with digital platforms, superb writing skills, and an ability to work well under pressing deadlines. Applicants should be strong multi-taskers, extremely organized, clear communicators, highly-media literate, team-players, and self-driven. Hill experience preferred; knowledge of video editing and graphic design software required; Connecticut ties and Spanish fluency are a plus.
