The Office of Representative Val Hoyle (OR-04) is hiring a Press Intern to work in her Washington, D.C. office. This is a paid internship that runs from early September through December 17. Interns are expected to work from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The Press Intern will work closely with a highly productive and fast-paced communications team. 

Responsibilities and educational opportunities will include the following:

  • Assisting with front office and administrative operations;
  • Compiling daily news clips;
  • Assisting in drafting press releases and other written materials;
  • Assisting in drafting social media content, including creating graphics and editing video content;
  • Helping to maintain press lists;
  • Clipping committee remarks and cable hits;
  • Answering phones; and,
  • Leading tours of the U.S. Capitol.

The ideal applicant will have a strong interest in political communications and have strong writing skills. Previous video editing and graphic creation experience is essential.
