Job Description
The Office of Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Press Intern to work in her Washington, DC office for the Summer 2026 term. This is a paid internship. The internship is intended for current undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in gaining invaluable congressional experience. Ideal candidates will have strong written communication skills, a working knowledge of graphic design software and best practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Candidates with Virginia ties are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Summer 2026 internship term runs from late May/early June to August. Exact start and end dates are negotiable. Internships are in-person and offered on a part-time and full-time basis to accommodate student schedules.
Press Intern tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting copy and designing graphics for social media
- Compiling daily press clips
- Answering and screening phone calls
- Maintaining press lists
- Clipping, editing, and compiling videos (long-form and short-form)
- Preparing statements, remarks, and other written releases for the Congresswoman
- Other tasks as assigned by the Communications Director and Press/Digital Assistant
