Position Summary
The Project Associate plays a key role in supporting the design, coordination, and delivery of United Latinos’ environmental, equity, and community engagement initiatives.
This position is ideal for an emerging professional eager to gain hands-on experience in environmental justice, transportation equity, civic engagement, and community-based project implementation. The Associate will support multiple programs over time, contributing to outreach, partner coordination, data collection, and reporting.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, adaptable, and deeply committed to equity-driven work.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination
- Support the day-to-day coordination of assigned projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
- Maintain project documentation, schedules, and progress tracking in organizational systems (e.g., Monday.com, Teams, SharePoint).
- Prepare meeting agendas, notes, and action summaries for internal and partner meetings.
- Assist in tracking procurement, reimbursements, and documentation for project activities.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Conduct outreach and recruitment for events, workshops, and educational activities.
- Support the planning and facilitation of community events and stakeholder sessions.
- Track participation, incentives, and engagement metrics for reporting.
Research, Data & Evaluation
- Collect and organize data from surveys, field activities, or community feedback.
- Assist in summarizing results for reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Support evaluation and impact tracking to document community outcomes.
Partner & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Coordinate with community-based organizations, schools, agencies, and technical partners.
- Schedule meetings, maintain contact records, and support partner communications.
- Assist with planning for coalitions, advisory committees, and partner briefings.
Communications & Reporting
- Draft content for newsletters, reports, and visual summaries.
- Capture photos, success stories, and highlights for outreach and funder updates.
- Assist with compiling data and narratives for quarterly or annual reports.
Cross-Program Deployment
- Support multiple initiatives as organizational needs evolve.
- Contribute to organization-wide efforts such as intern support, event planning, and partnership development.
- Participate in planning and reflection sessions to ensure continuity and shared learning across projects.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental justice, equity, and community engagement.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and online collaboration tools.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events.
Preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish highly preferred.
- Experience working with community-based organizations or youth programming.
- Familiarity with Sacramento-area environmental, transportation, or climate issues.
- Prior experience with data collection, outreach, or public education programs.
