Soccer Without Borders (SWB) uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth in the U.S. and abroad with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success.


The Position

The Program Coordinator plays a critical role in leading and supporting Soccer Without Borders’ mission by implementing programming, overseeing program quality, managing staff, and fostering community relationships. This position combines leadership, direct service, logistical oversight, and administrative tasks to ensure effective and impactful programming for newcomer youth.


Direct Service (50%)

The Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing comprehensive, holistic, and youth-centered programming with newcomer youth at John Ruhrah Elementary Middle School (JREMS) during the school year, and additional summer programming as required. Coordinate the efforts and resources required to facilitate a high-quality program—including soccer practices and games along with educational sessions—aligned with SWB program design standards.

  • Lead comprehensive, holistic, and youth-centered programming with newcomer youth throughout the year, including after-school and summer programming
  • Implement SWB OST programming at John Ruhrah Elementary Middle School (JREMS), including facilitation of soccer and academic sessions
  • Direct program planning & facilitation using the 9-point practice plan, Complete Season Checklist, and other SWB tools
  • Academic monitoring and advocacy
  • Lead player recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Communicate with schools and teachers regarding participant needs.
  • Conduct family engagement, including home visits and mentorship check-ins as needed
  • Ensure all Child Safeguarding policies are followed and enforced


Leadership and Supervision (25%)

This role will serve as League Commissioner for the SWB GG5 Middle School Girls League, including coordinating teams, referees, fields, and transportation.

  • Supervise and provide professional development for up to 2 Assistant Coaches, ensuring their growth and success in their roles
  • Lead facilitation and management of the SWB GG5 Middle School Girls League, including coordination of referees, fields, and transportation
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with school faculty, site staff, and the broader community to support program growth
  • Prepare and submit seasonal reports on program progress, challenges, and impact.


Monitoring and Evaluation (15%)

  • Ensure all participants are entered into UpShot and have completed profiles
  • Ensure accurate attendance is logged for all sessions in UpShot
  • Serve as Site Manager for Family League of Baltimore, submitting program plans and quarterly reports

Program/Organization-Wide Responsibilities (10%)

  • Participate in weekly SWB Maryland staff meetings and facilitate as needed
  • Actively participate in SWB-wide culture-building, connection, and professional development via SWB Wednesdays
  • Represent SWB at conferences, community events, and with media as appropriate.


The Candidate

We value transferable skills, lived experience, and diverse perspectives. Essential skills or experience for this position include a minimum of two years experience coaching soccer and a minimum of two years working in a youth development environment. Desired skills and experience for this position include, spanish language skills, experience coaching a girls soccer team, and the ability to work in a team setting.


Commitment

The Program Coordinator position is a full-time, in-person position based at our Baltimore, MD office, beginning as early as March 2026. While the majority of responsibilities occur during the week, occasional weekend work is required (games, tournaments, trips, etc).

The salary for this position will be $45,000. This position provides employer paid healthcare, generous vacation time, a flexible work environment, and a 401k retirement plan.
