The Alice Paul Center for Gender Justice is a nonprofit organization located at Paulsdale, the historic birthplace of Alice Paul, in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. The Center is dedicated to building a contemporary action and intergenerational movement for gender justice through the lens of history and place. As both a historic site and a center for civic engagement, APC connects past to present through programs that engage youth, educators, and the broader community. Through education and advocacy, the organization works to advance gender equity and create lasting social change.

Job Title: Program Coordinator 

Status: Part-time up to 15 hours per week, non-exempt

Compensation: $22 per hour

Benefits Eligibility: Part-time employees working fewer than 30 hours per week are not eligible for employee benefit programs.

Reports To: Assistant Director of Public Programs

 

Position Description: The Program Coordinator coordinates the planning and implementation of APC’s youth and community programs in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Public Programs. This is a part-time position (up to 15 hours per week) that requires occasional evening and weekend availability.

Major Areas of Responsibilities:   

  • Deliver youth programs and occasional community programs.
  • Serve as lead facilitator for APC’s Girls Leadership Council, including running monthly meetings, acting as the main point of contact for members, and assisting with planning. 
  • Coordinate youth programs with external partners and maintain communication with partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance for all programs, collecting demographic, qualitative, and quantitative information on APC youth programs.
  • Support other APC events and programs as needed.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Interest in and support for women’s history and contemporary issues
  • Experience and interest in working with youth or in education
  • Proficiency with current Microsoft Office products 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Willingness and capability for public speaking at public programs, events and conferences 
  • Ability to climb stairs, lift and carry 25 pounds 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Must maintain a professional decorum in working with youth 
  • Ability to pass a background check

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Good written and oral communication skills 
  • Experience in non-profit programming or commensurate experience in education 
  • Knowledge of women’s history and the American suffrage movement 
  • Interest in contemporary gender justice issues

 

Working Conditions: 

This position requires the ability to work independently in a dynamic and collaborative office environment. Staff offices are on the second floor of a historic house and are accessible only by stairs. Telework is permitted as job requirements allow. This job requires some evening and weekend availability to accommodate programming schedules.
