POSITION SUMMARY

The position answers to the Priest and Director for Spiritual Formation. The program assistant/manager brings attention and assistance to the Center’s prayer life and online spiritual offerings, helps plan and implement retreats, liturgical offerings/services, and pays attention to the spiritual needs and questions of the retreatants.

Worship: Lead worship according to the Daily Office of the Episcopal church (typically 3-6 services/week); assist with services of Holy Eucharist; coordinate & assist with special services around Holy Week, Christmas, and other major feasts of the church year.

Retreat Leadership: Plan and lead occasional retreat sessions on spiritual themes; lead regular sessions introducing guests to the labyrinth, nature, and spirituality, and TRC’s farm ministry.

Online and In-Person Themed Retreat Series: Schedule and coordinate themed retreat series, both online and in-person retreats, under the direction of Priest and Director for Spiritual Formation; schedule & monitor retreat videos; archive previous online retreats; assist where needed in filming and editing retreat videos.

Sacristy & Chapel: Maintain indoor and outdoor chapel and sacristy as welcoming spaces for worship and reflection; setup & takedown for liturgies throughout the campus of the Retreat Center; monitor & order supplies for liturgy.

The annual salary range for this position is $65,600 to $73,600.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and lead prayer services, special liturgies, and spiritual programming to meet the myriad spiritual needs of guests, regularly collaborating with clergy.
  • Serve as a resource to all groups using the Center, maintaining communication, and coordinating with retreat leaders before, during, and after gatherings to ensure that all programming logistics are completed.
  • Communicate, when necessary, need for meeting rooms for retreats and community events, manage and organize reservations, and see that all audio and video requests are satisfied to the best of the Center’s abilities.
  • Coordinate with Center operations and house-keeping staff to arrange room set-ups for programming, including setting up AV equipment.
  • Assist with streaming and scheduling online prayer services, retreats, and other programming on the Center’s web presence and in social media, including Facebook and Instagram.
  • Take an active role in planning creative spiritual and educational programs in line with the values and ministry of Trinity Church.
  • Help lead prayer services and other activities as needed.
  • Be responsible for the orderly upkeep of the chapel – setting up for services, cleaning up afterwards, and ensuring the chapel and sacristy are in order and clean.
  • Establish and maintain healthy professional relationships with local and national spiritual directors, iconographers, spiritual writers, and artists.
  • Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity Wall Street policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that promotes Trinity’s mission and core values.
  • Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES

Fridays 1-9 PM

Saturdays 12-8 PM

Sunday 9-5

Mondays and Tuesdays 1-9

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor's degree in theology. MA or MDiv preferred
  • Active spiritual life and practice
  • Episcopalian
  • Trained in spiritual direction (not a requirement)
