Job Description

Job Description The New York Office of Public and International Affairs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking two paid interns to work starting in September 2026. The internship will be 40 hrs/wk for no longer than 3 months.

Public and International Affairs Office in New York City is a satellite office of the Church Communication Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We focus on developing positive relationships with key individuals who are in a position to help or hinder the Church’s mission. This frequently involves reaching out to the diplomatic corps; local, state and national leaders who live or work in the Greater New York area; and leaders of other faiths. In building relationships, we seek to establish a positive image for the Church, clarify misunderstandings, and build bridges of friendship and understanding.

Responsibilities Interns are expected to assist with the planning, execution, and follow-up of events and diplomatic visits. This includes but is not limited to: creating invitations, posters, and other public affairs products; doing research and gathering information; managing office CRM (Customer Relationship Management) lists and mass mailings; written communication and correspondence; general office and administrative support; running errands; any other task necessary to support the effective functioning of the office. The duties may require occasional work outside of normal business hours, but these dates will be known in advance.

Qualifications
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in event management
  • Skilled in design and creation of public affairs materials
  • Problem solving skills and creativity
  • Professional demeanor and presentation
Preference will be given to students in international studies, political science, or communications programs at an accredited university, although students in other programs are also encouraged to apply. Interns need to be enrolled in an accredited University or be within one year of graduating when starting the internship; they need to meet all internship credit criteria of their sponsoring university, if applicable.

Each intern is responsible to find and pay for their own housing, pay for their travel to New York, and to pay for any personal expenses.

All candidates must be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in good standing to be considered for the internship.
