Rapid Response Director


Mallory McMorrow’s campaign for U.S. Senate seeks a strategic and experienced Rapid Response Director to help lead the campaign’s communications operation. The Rapid Response Director will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of the campaign’s overall messaging, managing day-to-day press operations, and working closely with senior staff to drive earned media and digital strategy.


This full-time position is based in the Detroit area and will require in-state travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to support a statewide U.S. Senate campaign.
  • Serve as point of contact for press and media inquiries including as an on-the-record spokesperson.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Michigan and national reporters, editors, producers, and bookers.
  • Manage day-to-day press operations, including pitching stories, booking interviews, and coordinating rapid response.
  • Draft press releases, statements, media advisories, talking points, op-eds, speeches, and internal communications.
  • Plan and organize press events in coordination with the digital, political, policy, scheduling, and field teams.
  • Work collaboratively with senior campaign leadership to ensure message alignment across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of communications and/or political campaign experience. Experience developing and executing communications strategies in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • On-the-record spokesperson experience required.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with local and national media.
  • Campaign experience –– particularly in Michigan –– strongly preferred.

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package provided.
