RESEARCH MANAGER

CENTER FOR INNOVATION

Classification: Level 1 / Class Code 2038 / Full-Time or Part-Time / Exempt / Benefited

Hiring Salary Rate: $59,998 annually (commensurate with qualifications)

THE ROLE

The Center for Innovation at the University of California Hastings College of the Law seeks a Research Manager to support the Center's research and to work directly with Professor Robin Feldman. The research and writing topics will relate largely to legislative and regulatory reform of health care pricing and access, but may also include intellectual property, artificial intelligence, information integrity, and other topics.

The ideal applicant will have current college or graduate level knowledge of the research techniques necessary to conduct novel research. The position is well-suited for a candidate intending to continue on to additional graduate work in 1-2 years. Ideal applicants will have the opportunity to influence policy and public discussion through their data analysis and writing.

This is a temporary contract appointment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Writing sections of white papers and academic research;

Writing reports of results for funders and policymakers;

Editing papers designed for peer-reviewed or law journal publications;

Designing and implementing research plans;

REQUIREMENTS

Experience with research;

Experience with or ability to learn legal research databases such as Westlaw and Lexis;

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation;

Must be energetic, articulate, detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment;

As with many startups, the Center offices are set up as an open, cooperative workspace, rather than individual offices. The Research Manager must be comfortable with that working environment.
