Job Description
The Office of Congresswoman Delia Ramirez is seeking a Scheduler + DC Operations Manager. Scheduler + DC Operations Manager works closely with the Congresswoman and Chief of Staff to ensure that the Congresswoman’s time and DC office resources are used effectively in order to achieve the goals of the Office.
The Scheduler + DC Operations Manager is not an entry level role and requires excellent critical thinking, relationship management, organizational, and communication skill sets. The Scheduler + DC Operations Manager reports to the Chief of Staff (COS). The position is based in DC and works out of the Congresswoman's DC office. The work requires schedule flexibility, including long days, regular evening work, and occasional weekend engagement.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Time and Schedule Management (55%): Ensure that the Congresswoman’s time is used effectively to achieve the goals of the Office across all locations and departments.
- Ensure the schedule of the day is implemented smoothly across Member needs, staffing, and travel. This responsibility area includes providing transportation for the Congresswoman while she is in DC.
- Operations Management and Infrastructure Development (25%): Plan, execute and maintain Office operations activities independently and in collaboration with other operations and DC staff.
- Lead DC-based Constituent Services (5%): Provide exceptional, accessible and relational constituent services specific to DC visits.
- Employee Supervision (10%): Recruit, interview, supervise and cultivate team members.
- Administration (5%): Coordinate across functions to advance strategic priorities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies: Preferred candidates will possess:
- REQUIRED: 1-2 years of experience in operations, scheduling, advance or executive support for elected officials or executives, government, non-profits, or similar entities.
- REQUIRED: A vehicle, insurance, and a valid driver’s license, as staffing and transporting the Principal between commitments is a significant function of the position.
- PREFERRED: Fluency (written and spoken) in Spanish.
- PREFERRED: Knowledge and experience on Capitol Hill is a plus.
- PREFERRED: Prior experience with progressive movements, spaces or offices.
- Detail and Deadline-Oriented: Capable of producing high-quality work products under tight deadlines with limited support. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Track record of exceptional planning and time management. Ability to build and maintain effective and efficient systems, work under pressure, and comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities at once.
- Communication Skills: Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Track record of action-oriented/persuasive writing yielding results.
- Community Relations Skills: Strong ability to build relationships with a broad range of government and community stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relations internally and externally while negotiating complex interests.
- Discretion and Sound Judgment: Strong ability to manage sensitive information and discernment to make internal recommendations and judgment calls.
- Strategic Thinking, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Politically savvy and skilled at navigating challenging situations with the Principals and staff. Strategic attunement to the Congresswoman’s priorities, values, goals, and the constituencies she serves.
- Team Player: Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and to coordinate efforts to reduce silos. Willingness to accept performance-based criticism and direction.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an office environment.
- Noise levels in the office are usually moderate.
- Ability to operate a vehicle.
- Ability to work in a small workstation without expectation of privacy.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including long hours, nights, and weekends, as needed.
- Physically able to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 lbs, such as supply inventory, small office equipment and audio visual equipment.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and computer
