Job Description

The Annie E. Casey Foundation is dedicated to building a brighter future for millions of children, older youth and young adults by improving their educational, economic, social and health outcomes.

The Foundation works to strengthen families, build stronger communities and ensure access to opportunity because young people need all three to succeed.  Casey advances research and solutions to overcome barriers to success, help communities demonstrate what works and influence decision makers to invest in strategies based on solid evidence.

At Casey you will find a dynamic environment with staff of diverse backgrounds and perspectives who share a deep commitment to advancing the Foundation’s mission.  Casey staff also have flexible schedules, including a hybrid workweek, to support a healthy work and life balance.

The Foundation seeks a senior associate with expertise in diversion and prevention to join the Juvenile Justice Strategy Group (JJSG). The senior associate will be part of a team working to advance community-led diversion and prevention as part of a broader set of strategies aimed at reforming juvenile justice system practices and policies. The senior associate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, forming and nurturing relationships with external partners and serving as a program officer for grants aimed at advancing the Foundation’s investments and initiatives. The successful candidate will have experience in frontline practice, training and technical assistance and will focus on workforce development to keep young people out of the juvenile justice system.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the human services field
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in one or more of the following areas: youth justice reform; diversion and prevention programs; alternatives to incarceration; positive youth development or family engagement with community-based, human services, government, research, policy or advocacy organizations.
  • Experience planning, organizing and leading the implementation of strategies, technical assistance and tasks that support juvenile probation reform
  • Experience building and maintaining successful partnerships with key youth justice systems and community partners.
  • Experience working directly with youth, families and community partners most affected by the youth justice system on designing and implementing effective juvenile probation approaches.
  • Experience developing effective communication tools — including publications, blogs and other methods — intended to influence the practices of youth justice system leaders and stakeholders

Please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing how your background and experience make you an ideal candidate for this role.  The Foundation will not consider resumes submitted without a cover letter.  You can review the full job description on our direct website.
