Position Scope and Impact

The Senior Development Manager leads Angel Flight West’s fundraising strategy, campaigns, and donor stewardship efforts to drive revenue growth and long-term sustainability. This role manages a portfolio of individual and institutional donors, oversees signature fundraising events, and ensures effective development operations, including database stewardship.

Working closely with the Development Director and executive leadership, the Senior Development Manager provides strategic planning, supervises development staff and contractors, and identifies new opportunities for funding, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead logistics and donor engagement for Angel Flight West’s signature events, including the Endeavor Awards and Golf Classic.
  • Manage auction procurement and relationships with donors to secure and renew items, experiences, and sponsorships.
  • Develop corporate partnerships and support grant funding opportunities through prospect research and outreach.
  • Oversee and maintain the donor database (Salesforce), ensuring accurate records, stewardship tracking, and data-driven reporting on fundraising progress.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to execute fundraising appeals, online giving campaigns, donor recognition, and engagement across digital and print channels.
  • Supervise the Development Associate and support Development and Event Committees.
  • Manage donor portfolios for Directors and Board members, including cultivation of prospective donors and partners.
  • Provide input on strategic planning and organizational budgeting related to development initiatives.
  • Support administrative coordination for Board and committee meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Development Director.

Leadership

  • Lead and support the Development team by setting performance goals, providing mentorship, and overseeing training, evaluation, and employee engagement.
  • Manage the annual individual giving budget, monitor revenue and expenses, and report progress to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Establish KPIs and track performance metrics to evaluate fundraising effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.

Revenue Generation

  • Meet or exceed annual fundraising targets by managing donor portfolios and strengthening relationships with individuals, corporations, and institutional partners.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director and Grants Manager to develop integrated corporate support opportunities.
  • Represent Angel Flight West at external events and engagements to promote programs and build philanthropic support.

Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship program to ensure consistent donor recognition, reporting, and engagement across the organization.
  • Prepare stewardship and impact reports for general audiences and high-value or restricted donors.
  • Ensure fulfillment of sponsorship and partnership benefits, including recognition and contract deliverables, in collaboration with events and communications teams.

Preferred Skillset

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of management experience, preferably in a nonprofit development office.
  • Demonstrated success leading fundraising campaigns, including initiatives generating $500K+ in revenue.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, with the ability to cultivate partnerships, negotiate, and inspire stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and self-management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and operate independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Database management experience required; Salesforce preferred.

Salary Range: $70,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Work Location: This position is remote, with occasional travel required for meetings and events. Southern California preferred.
