Senior Gift Officer, Legacy Giving

Role Description The Senior Gift Officer, Legacy Giving is a full-time, on-site role based in Atlanta, GA. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors and prospects for planned and legacy gifts, including bequests, charitable trusts, and other deferred giving vehicles. The role involves managing a portfolio of donors, conducting regular in-person and virtual meetings, and preparing customized proposals and gift illustrations. The Senior Gift Officer collaborates closely with development, finance, and program teams to align donor intentions with organizational priorities and to ensure accurate documentation and stewardship. Day-to-day activities include tracking donor interactions in the CRM, hosting or supporting donor events, providing ongoing relationship management and recognition, and staying informed on best practices in legacy giving and nonprofit fundraising.

Qualifications

• Strong donor relationship management skills, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Experience in major gifts, planned giving, or legacy giving, with the ability to discuss and structure charitable bequests, trusts, and other estate-based contributions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear proposals, correspondence, and donor-facing materials.
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including effective use of CRM or donor management systems and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles, charitable giving vehicles, and basic financial or estate planning concepts.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, work independently, and maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
• Commitment to Atlanta Mission’s faith-based, Christ-centered mission and respect for diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or similar) and several years of fundraising or development experience; CFRE or planned giving-related credentials are a plus.
