Senior Manager, Corporate Communications
ST Engineering North America, based in Alexandria, VA, is the U.S. HQ of ST Engineering (SGX:S63; STE:SP), a global technology, defense and engineering group with offices across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S., serving customers in over 100 countries. Position Summary
ST Engineering North America is seeking an experienced professional to shape corporate communication efforts. The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications position is intended for a proactive, resourceful, and articulate professional who will be responsible for a broad spectrum of internal and external communications, stakeholder engagements, and traditional and social media activities. This role requires deep multicultural understanding, a global awareness sensitive to local expectations, and an appreciation for the role of communications in advancing the Group’s public policy interests.
Utilizing traditional and digital media platforms, this role will reinforce the Group’s corporate communication objectives; will be responsible for implementing a dynamic social media and digital outreach campaign; and will coordinate with the global communications team to increase brand awareness and reputation. The ideal candidate will bring global stories to the local level and highlight regional interests for exchange with corporate HQ. This position will also develop strategies to enhance the U.S. HQ and the reputation, branding, and market positioning of U.S. Business Units (BUs), while ensuring alignment and amplification of corporate narratives.
This position reports to the Vice President of Government Relations & Business Development, ST Engineering North America, and functionally to the Group Head, Corporate Communications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted communications advisor to the North America HQ and BU leadership, by providing communication advisories, including media engagements, press releases, and issue management response.
- Manage external and internal communications strategies designed to elevate corporate visibility directed at media, partners, policy makers, prospective employees, and other key stakeholders.
- Advance local media relations, manage news flow, develop strategies to generate interest and land stories in US media outlets.
- Draft and update communications materials, including Q&As, press releases, fact sheets, interview briefs, key talking points and presentations; manage internal approval process for such materials.
- Support tradeshows and events managed by the U.S. HQ.
- Oversee the implementation of a U.S. HQ corporate website and social media channels; create and curate content for these channels and ensure a frequent exchange of stories between HQs.
- Provide guidance to ensure coordination of communications processes and understanding of key issues and strategies; cascade all internal announcements across the Business Units.
- Serve as a vital contributor to the Group Corporate Communications team, providing expertise and guidance on North American communications practices, industry news, and current trends.
- Serve on internal cross-functional teams related to topics such as global corporate initiatives, regulatory and commercial milestones.
- Assist the VP of GR/BD to develop the annual work plan, legislative strategy, and communications budget.
- Perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time by Management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6-8+ years PR/Corporate Communications experience with social media, communications, and/or marketing related roles. Experience at a multinational company and/or PR agency is preferred.
- Experience as a communications professional with a federal government agency, legislative office, or corporate trade association is a plus.
- Experience managing website content and redesign projects with outside consultants. Current on latest social and digital communications trends.
- Strong background in technology, defense, and aerospace segments and/or B2B industry and their associated marketing campaigns.
- Strong writing, grammatically flawless, fluent, and creative writing style, with the ability to condense complex ideas into stories / messages that are compelling and easily understood.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, on occasion.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications or related field.
