Job Description
The Senior Program Manager, Arts in Education oversees many aspects of the ArtsWestchester’s community and school-based artist residency programs that are designed to enhance the effectiveness of human service agencies such as day-care centers, senior centers, shelters, mental health facilities, programs for at-risk young people and during & after-school programs through the creative arts.
The Senior Program Manager collaborates with agencies to tailor services for creating long-term, immersive arts-integrated programs and assessing their benefits and impact. The services are customizable and may involve completing minor proposals, developing budgets, and preparing necessary reports.
The Senior Program Manager directly reports to the Arts in Education Director and supports the Director and the Chief Executive Officer in establishing, building, and managing relationships with government, community leaders, and schools. In addition, the Senior Program Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Education Department by providing director support to ArtsMobile Manager and Public Programs Associate and assisting with cross-departmental projects. The cross-departmental projects include but are not limited to Family ArtsBash, Transportation Grant, Arts for People with Special Needs Opportunity, and Visions Exhibit.
The Senior Program Manager manages the Teaching Artist Roster and shares the responsibility of providing professional development opportunities and activities. These efforts contribute to ArtsWestchester's mission of creating an equitable, vibrant, and sustainable Westchester County where the arts are integral to and integrated into every aspect of life.
Overall job responsibilities:
- Design, implement, monitor and assess programs and activities.
- Ensure efficient operations of the department, including data management (records of residency grants, contracts, reports, etc.).
- Promote programs and services to potential community partners.
- Write proposals and reports.
- Initiate, maintain and strengthen relationships with key funding agencies, including Westchester County communities, schools and other agencies.
- Collaborate with the communications department to build greater awareness of ArtsWestchester’s education activities and achievements.
- Maintain and develop a roster of teaching artists through effective outreach and professional development opportunities.
- Provide artists and sites with technical assistance as needed.
- Create and promote professional development opportunities for artists and site staff.
- Participate in planning sessions, conducts site visits, and attend culminating events as required.
- Support the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Arts in Education in all efforts to enhance ArtsWestchester’s effectiveness and to meet goals articulated in its Strategic Plan and mission.
- Represent ArtsWestchester at meetings, conferences and events as required.
- Assist with community and school workshops conducted at ArtsWestchester.
- Manage and participate in other community initiatives as required.
- Participate in ArtsWestchester-wide programs activities and events as required such as gala, golf outing and exhibition openings.
