Summary
Under the direction of the Regional Director, U.S. Programs, the Senior Program Specialist, U.S. and Tribal Health will work to develop, manage, and expand Direct Relief's domestic programs that support safety-net healthcare providers across the United States.
This role oversees program operations, partner engagement, resource distribution, reporting, and process improvement to ensure the effective delivery of medicines, medical supplies, funding opportunities, and other resources to safety net providers across the United States.
A key focus of this position is supporting the growth and expansion of Direct Relief's Tribal Health initiatives. The Senior Program Specialist, U.S. and Tribal Health will work to strengthen and expand relationships with Tribal health organizations, identify unmet healthcare and infrastructure needs, increase participation in Direct Relief programs, and develop partnerships that improve access to essential medicines and healthcare resources for Tribal communities.
Working closely with healthcare providers, healthcare associations, Tribal health organizations, manufacturers, philanthropic partners, and internal teams, the Senior Program Specialist, U.S. and Tribal Health helps strengthen healthcare access throughout Direct Relief's partner network.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of material aid to Direct Relief’s domestic partner network.
- Perform customer service, technical support, and work to enhance partner relationships.
- Screen and evaluate new applications for assistance.
- Utilize tools to solicit customer feedback to better inform Programs, Pharmacy, and Operations.
- Communicate program activities and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with the IT team to work with and improve upon systems such as Qlik, the Direct Relief Network online ordering platform, SAP Customer Relationship Management database, and Business Intelligence reporting.
- Perform other duties to support the overall growth and development of the organization
- Conduct periodic site visits or attend conferences as needed.
Tribal Health Expansion
- Support the growth and expansion of Direct Relief's Tribal Health initiatives.
- Build relationships with Tribal health organizations and Indigenous-serving partners.
- Identify opportunities to increase access to medicines, medical supplies, infrastructure support, and capacity-building resources for Tribal communities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop responsive programs that address the unique needs of Tribal healthcare providers and patients.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Experience working with healthcare providers, safety-net organizations, Tribal health organizations, or nonprofit/public health programs preferred.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Customer-service oriented with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to supporting partners.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, and operational processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with Sales Force, SAP, Qlik, or similar systems preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically, including to disaster-affected areas as needed.
