Pacific Northwest Democratic Senator seeks a special assistant and driver based in Washington DC. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, be extremely detailed oriented, and able to work comfortably in both a team environment and when alone with a senior Senator. Reliability, flexibility, discretion, and ability to problem solve in real time and under stressful situations are also essential. Duties include, but are not limited to, advancing all DC locations, staying abreast of the Senator’s dynamic calendar, ensuring the Senator makes it safely and on time to all commitments, and constantly communicating with other members of the Senator’s staff. When not working directly for the Senator, individual will support the Senator’s Chief of Staff primarily on legislative and legal research projects. This position requires the individual to be available for extended and unscheduled hours which can include nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, a car, familiarity with DC streets, and great driving record. Candidates with at least two years of work experience, knowledge of government and politics, and connections to the Pacific Northwest are strongly preferred.
