Job Description
The Pro Football Retired Players Association (PFRPA) is seeking a Specialist of Member & Donor Relations. This candidate will develop, implement and manage strategies for comprehensive donor giving. This full-time employee will also focus on research, development and implementation of fundraising-related programs. The Specialist will be expected to cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, corporations and related organizations. The candidate will be required to perform administrative responsibilities in an efficient, timely and professional manner. The Specialist will also be responsible for customer service efforts and communications to PFRPA’s 10,000+ membership base. The employee will assist the Director of Member & Donor Relations with promoting the organization to retired NFL players, focusing on active recruitment and retention. The Specialist must be strategic, dependable, highly motivated and possess a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be able to exercise sound judgment and add value to the organization, while furthering its mission and goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Association’s donor relations strategy, including a wide range of fundraising-related programs
- Support the Director of Member & Donor Relations with overall membership recruitment, engagement and retention
- Cultivate members’ relationships with the Association by providing timely responses for member inquiries; addressing members’ needs; extending exceptional customer service; and offering effective resolutions
- Communicate proactively and effectively with current members and potential donors on all aspects of the organization
- Steward donors by communicating programs of interest and facilitating sponsorship and recognition opportunities
- Generate correspondence with donors including research inquiries, information requests and renewals
- Maintain multiple databases and spreadsheets with acute accuracy and attention to detail
- Design and create fundraising collateral for online distribution
- Employ email marketing software to actively engage with members and donors
- Establish and lead event planning activities for donor-related events
- Manage a detailed record of stewardship actions and contact reports
- Monitor the organization’s donor relations email address
- Assist with Board meetings, presentations and special events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in business administration, marketing, nonprofit management or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- At least three years of relevant experience in donor development, constituent engagement and/or sales; member association or nonprofit experience preferred
- Proven experience developing and implementing donor relations strategy
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, interacting effectively with individuals across various levels
- Excellent telephone, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Must possess strong computer and database management skills
- Highly proficient writing, proofreading and editing skills
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
- Effective time management skills with focus on meeting deadlines
- Event management experience preferred
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Workspace
- Email marketing software experience preferred
