Job Description
Senator Brian Schatz seeks a Staff Assistant for his Honolulu, Hawai‘i office. The Hawai‘i Staff Assistant supports the office’s front desk, outreach activities, and communications team. The Hawai‘i Staff Assistant’s primary responsibilities are: drafting, editing, and proofreading materials sent out on behalf of the Senator; answering phone calls and directing inquiries; greeting and directing visitors to the office; helping manage constituent requests; supporting the planning and execution of outreach activities; assisting with press-related tasks; and other general office tasks.
The successful applicant will be: a strong writer; have excellent communication skills; have strong Hawai‘i ties and a significant understanding of local culture, people, and places; be organized; be adaptable; work well in a team; and welcome feedback. Desired skills include customer service experience and/or digital or communications work.
This is a full-time position, and training will be provided for the right candidate. While a demonstrated interest in public service is appreciated, previous experience in government is not a requirement.
