Title: Strength-Based Behavior Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Behavior Development
Salary Range: $38-42K - Full-Time Non- Exempt
Location: HYBRID: 3-6 p.m. at site locations / Remote option off program hours

About the Organization
For 25 years, YouthPlaces has been a leading agency on positive youth development in the Pittsburgh region’s most vulnerable communities. Working alongside communities, residents, and schools to ensure that all youth have access, opportunity, and exposure to the best life they dream possible! In 1997, YP began as the brainchild of the Youth Crime Prevention council and ventured to have sites in neighborhoods and communities where few other agencies were willing to go, and 25 years later continues to do so. Throughout our history YP’s footprint has been established in over 20 communities, and has served over 16,000 young people supporting them through academic enrichment, mentoring, workforce development and college and career planning.
Position Overview
YOUTHPLACES (YP) is a network of afterschool programs for teens in underserved neighborhoods. The Strength-Based Behavior Coordinator (SBBC) is assigned to a region of YP sites and is expected to engage directly with youth in order to support them in making smart life decisions and prepare them for success with their college & career search processes. The SBBC is expected to provide resources and support to youth, families, and communities as needed to enhance their emotional intelligence and keep them safe. The SBBC will also work with the Director of Behavior Development to create curriculum centered around social-emotional learning (SEL) and facilitate it out to their assigned YP region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee strengths-based behavior activities (case management, coaching, group sessions) at a minimum of three sites weekly.
- Provide 1 - on - 1 coaching and mentoring to enrolled students utilizing the YouthPlaces Professional Growth Plan (PGP).
- Provide small group mentoring sessions with youth focused on SEL (e.g. life skills, and college & career preparation).
- Collect, monitor, analyze, and report on youth data, program outcomes, and social emotional learning assessments for all YP sites within their region.
- Develop and review individual case notes and draft recommendations
- Support youth in identifying triggers and building positive response mechanisms
- Create & facilitate positive youth development SEL activities
- Create Service Plans as needed for youth, families, sites, and communities
- Support programs team with planning/execution of events (e.g. open houses, events with community stakeholders, parents, guardians, and school personnel).
- As needed, attend community meetings, serving as a representative.
Education/Experience & Requirements
- Passionate about YouthPlaces' mission and able to promote and communicate our philosophy, mission, and values to external and internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor of Social Work
- An excellent candidate will also have experience working in after school settings focused in areas of education, Social Work, Sociology, Youth Development, and/or community engagement.
- Strong relationship builder and communicator
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills..
- Demonstrates integrity and strives for excellence.
- Strong understanding of project management
- Ability to think strategically to reach goals.
