Washington, DC, USA

Job Description

The Office of Congresswoman Norma Torres is currently seeking full-time summer 2026 interns for her DC office. These paid internships are an excellent opportunity for those interested in public service and learning more about the legislative process. Interns will have the opportunity to be hands-on in the legislative process by assisting with Rep. Torres’ responsibilities on the House Administration and Appropriations Committees. Our office seeks to help interns grow beyond the typical intern responsibilities by incorporating their passions and goals into their internship. Additionally, a specific press internship is also available to work directly with the Press Secretary to develop and implement communications and social media strategies.

Intern responsibilities include researching legislation, attending hearings and briefings, drafting constituent letters, assisting the press and legislative teams in pushing policy forward, drafting memoranda for the staff, and performing administrative work as needed.

To submit your application, please visit https://torres.house.gov/services/internships to complete the form and email CA35.Internship@mail.house.gov a one-page resume, cover letter, and your availability with the subject line as "[Last Name] - Summer 2026 DC Internship Application." Applications will be considered until March 23, 2026. Ties to CA-35 and California, along with Spanish skills, are preferred but not required.

The office is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, religion, disability, age, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, or military status.
