Job Purpose
As a summer research intern, the student is responsible for contributing to cutting-edge research in cancer treatment through hands-on experience in areas such as clinical photon and proton beams, dosimetry, spectrometry, computational dosimetry, and cancer imaging. This position supports the mission of the Howard-Hopkins Comprehensive Partnership for U54 - Cancer Research Education by fostering the development of emerging researchers and advancing cancer research methodologies.
Supervisory Authority
This position does not encompass supervisory responsibilities. The participant will work under the guidance and mentorship of experienced research faculty and staff.
Nature And Scope
Internal contacts include faculty mentors, research staff, graduate students, and administrative personnel involved in the Summer Research Program and affiliated academic departments. External contacts may include visiting researchers, collaborators from partnering institutions, and representatives from NIH/NCI as appropriate.
Principal Accountabilities
Core Competencies
Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in physics or engineering. Ability to commit to the full 10-week summer program. Authorization to work in the U.S. (if applicable)
