Cathedral Kitchen (CK) is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Vice President of Operations to provide visionary leadership and hands-on oversight of our programs, facilities, and administrative functions. The VP of Operations will play a key role in advancing CK’s mission to help people out of food insecurity and poverty through meals, job training, and supportive services.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Vice President of Operations will oversee day-to-day operations and guide long-term strategic goals across all areas of the organization. This role provides leadership for CK’s culinary, administrative, and program teams, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and continued program growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall operational and strategic leadership for Cathedral Kitchen, including financial management, food operations, human resources, and facilities oversight.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the senior management team and professional staff (team of eight (8) direct reports), to ensure alignment with CK’s mission and strategic objectives.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to implement the organization’s strategic plan and drive continuous improvement across programs.
  • Oversee and grow CK’s social enterprises, CK Catering from the Heart and Contract Catering, while exploring new business opportunities that align with CK’s mission.
  • Manage the annual operational budget, ensuring fiscal accountability and transparent reporting to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of administrative systems, including HR, IT, and finance.
  • Represent Cathedral Kitchen publicly and build strong relationships with community partners, government agencies, and private organizations.
  • Oversee the logistics for CK’s Community Kitchen programs, catering operations, and special events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior management experience in hospitality, food service, or large-scale catering operations.
  • Proven success managing operations, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with social enterprises, social services, or workforce development programs a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with compassion for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks, and payroll systems (e.g., Paychex).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategic vision and hands-on management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $112,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
