About My New Red Shoes (MNRS): My New Red Shoes (MNRS) is a nonprofit organization that exists to improve the quality of life and well-being for children and youth experiencing economic hardship. Since 2006, MNRS has distributed new shoes, clothing and other essentials to over 220,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. As an organization working to provide an important social safety net for children and families experiencing poverty or hardship, MNRS continuously evolves our programs and services to address the urgent needs of the community.
The Opportunity: MNRS is hiring a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team.
The Volunteer Coordinator executes My New Red Shoes’ community volunteer outreach activities in support of organizational goals. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit and manage volunteers for work in MNRS’ warehouse space(s), with a focus on engaging corporate volunteer groups.
The Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Director of Operations. The position also works in collaboration with Development staff and the Community Engagement Coordinator. The right candidate will be passionate about social justice, My New Red Shoes’ mission and values, and will be able to represent MNRS with authenticity and integrity to all constituents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Volunteer Coordinator supports the Director of Operations by executing all warehouse operations while delivering an exemplary volunteer experience for corporate, community and individual volunteers, bolstering support for My New Red Shoes’ mission and impact.
- Recruit, schedule, and oversee MNRS volunteers
- Work with MNRS staff to identify and leverage existing corporate partnerships
- Recruit individual volunteers/groups as needed
- Ensure volunteers are trained with a clear understanding of their responsibilities and safety procedures
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers
- Maintain volunteer database with up-to-date information to track outcomes from the volunteer program
- Support the maintenance of an accurate inventory system and oversee the incoming and outgoing of items as needed
- Create outreach strategies and work with MNRS staff and contractors for content creation
- Work with Director of Operations to build volunteer base for operational support
- Propose new volunteer engagement ideas
- Oversee in-person volunteer events on-site
Experience & Qualifications:
- Clear understanding of the mission and values of My New Red Shoes
- Highly energetic, charismatic approach to engaging diverse audiences and groups
- Outstanding communication skills
- Experience engaging corporate teams and/or working with CSR groups preferred
- Capability to perform well both independently and as part of a team
- Self-directed and self-motivated
- Ability to plan, set priorities and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Computer proficiency and comfort with learning and effectively using new technologies
- Transportation required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Strong attention to detail
- Competency in and comfort with self-directed problem solving
- Openness to giving and receiving feedback
- Flexibility and resourcefulness
- Ability to lift heavy loads (50 lbs. +)
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, including Sundays, as required
Work Environment: Full time. Hybrid. Office located in Redwood City.
Compensation: This is a full-time position. The salary range for the position is $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience. The position is eligible for the following benefits:
