About Rosie the Riveter Trust

Rosie the Riveter Trust is the official nonprofit partner of the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, California. The Trust preserves and shares the inspiring history of the World War II Home Front while engaging youth in educational and career-focused programs. Through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, the Trust empowers underserved youth to explore careers in skilled trades, STEM, and community leadership.

Program Overview

The Youth Program Manager will oversee the Trust’s flagship youth program called Rosie’s Service Corps (RSC), 4th Grade field trips to the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park for Title I Richmond and West Contra Costa students, and other youth programming. RSC serves approximately 500 middle and high school youth (grades 7–12) each year, predominantly from the City of Richmond and surrounding West Contra Costa communities, providing experiential learning, leadership development, career exploration, and community service access to underserved youth, particularly youth of color, foster youth, and those at risk of academic disengagement. The Youth Program Manager will also oversee all scheduling, subcontracts with consultants, grant administration, evaluation, and required reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Management & Implementation
• Plan, organize, and oversee youth programming, workshops, field trips, and after-school activities.
• Supervise and mentor part-time staff, volunteers, and contract instructors (trades teachers, outdoor guides, etc.).
• Coordinate logistics for field trips, outdoor adventures, and community service projects.
• Ensure program activities meet grant funding goals in youth development, leadership, career readiness, and healthy lifestyle promotion.

• Partnerships & Recruitment
• Build and maintain relationships with the national park, National Park Service Rangers, schools and school district, community centers, housing communities, and partner organizations.
• Recruit and enroll youth participants, with attention to underserved and at-risk populations.
• Engage families and communities in program events and activities.

• Grant & Program Reporting
• Track participant attendance, engagement, demographics and outcomes.
• Prepare and submit program reports to funders, including quantitative and qualitative evaluation metrics.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director on program budgets and resource allocation.

• Curriculum & Experiential Learning Oversight
• Oversee delivery of the various sub-programs of RSC, including project-based curricula (career/trade skills, financial literacy, STEM, leadership, community service).
• Ensure safe and structured field experiences that promote personal growth, confidence, teamwork, and healthy risk-taking.
• Support youth in leadership roles and other mentorship opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in youth development, education, nonprofit management, or a related field required.
• 3+ years of experience managing community focused programs, preferably with youth and/or underserved populations.
• Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or youth mentors.
• Proven ability to manage program logistics, field trips, and budgets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with grant reporting a plus.
• Ability to participate in outdoor physical activities (hiking, camping, kayaking) and manage youth safely in these settings.
• Valid driver’s license

Compensation and Benefits

• Full-time exempt position, salary $80,000–$85,000, based on experience.
