The Associate Director for Major Gift Data Strategy and Reporting is responsible for managing data systems and strategy with the aim of identifying prospective major gift donors through UW Medicine’s constituency, which includes donors, grateful patients, alumni, volunteers and community members. This role will create and execute processes to ensure that data on identified prospects are efficiently and compliantly delivered to fundraisers and leadership.

The Associate Director will create reports and visualizations to demonstrate the impact of the fundraising efforts of UW Medicine Advancement. Additionally, the Associate Director will be reporting on engagement activity between Advancement and UW Medicine faculty partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development and Management:

• Manages SQL patient fundraising database, Bridge, including developing relationships with data partners in UW Medicine IT and University Advancement, managing and updating the patient data extract, monitoring data integrity, writing queries and stored procedures to create efficiencies in accessing key data, and troubleshooting any data transformation issues.

• Research and make recommendations for technology improvements, including a new CRM solution to manage information protected by HIPAA.

• Collaborate with the faculty engagement (Engage) team on managing data intake and data reporting within HIPAA-compliant environments while creating end-user friendly solutions for data collection.

• Create visualizations and reporting for faculty engagement resources including performance dashboards, prospect heat maps and other resources, all within HIPAA-compliant environments.

• Independently consult and advise on, as well as create, internal products and processes that improve the donor pipeline, from beginning (identifying new potential prospects) to end (demonstrating the impact of philanthropy to current donors).

• Independently develop ad hoc project analyses and visualizations supporting faculty engagement, annual philanthropy, prospect discovery, fundraiser metrics, and related activity.

• Consult with internal stakeholders to help define functional requirements for major information initiatives. Analyze and identify opportunities to expand and improve data processes in support of long-range automated and self-service information needs.

• Serve as a subject matter expert to teams who manage the Advancement data warehouse and create tools/reports; articulate nuance and business practices related to UW Medicine prospect data, beats, grants, gift utilization, and funds; advise on related data structures and usage.

• Advise and collaborate with other strategists across academic units to bring rigor to their data analysis projects.

• Advise on and support data governance policies and practices articulated by the Advancement Data Governance Oversight Committee.

• Promote a mutual understanding of data elements and reliable data standards through documentation and other learning opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in advancement/development, business intelligence, or related field.

Additional requirements:

• Proficiency in SQL and Excel

• Proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization or business intelligence software

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising practices

• Experience with project management

• Experience with donor or customer CRM (customer relationship management) software
