The Corporate Responsibility (CR) Division is responsible for the development and implementation of the firm's CR agenda by crafting goals, policies and initiatives that align with and support the firm's business strategies, reflect our values and support the communities where we do business. The Division includes Global Philanthropy, Community Engagement, Global Government Relations, Research & Policy and Sustainable Finance.
Community Engagement supports this mission by building enduring, authentic relationships with key stakeholders to support the firm's long-term success and drive positive, lasting community-centered impact.
Community Engagement is seeking a Market Manager that will report to the Community Engagement East Region Executive and serve as an external and internal face of CR market engagement. The Market Manager will strategically engage consumer, business and nonprofit leaders; play a critical role in internal CR coordination and market planning; ensure compliance with market-based Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) goals, and provide leadership and guidance to local market teams and cross-firm business partners.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit, social justice, consumer advocate, public and private sector stakeholders
Provide market intelligence, leverage and distill insights from various community engagement approaches to advance firm priorities through products, services, practices and clients
Provide analysis on key issues to help inform the direction of the firm's resources and investments
Source opportunities and report on the impact of engagement, including grants that support nonprofit capacity building, research and policy and business initiatives
Identify strategic alliances and relationships to support Corporate Responsibility and firm-wide objectives
Business Planning and Market Coordination
Create comprehensive local market plans that include cross-firm resources and expertise to promote lasting community-centered solutions that can address persistent drivers of economic inequality experienced by communities of color, women, and other vulnerable populations
Develop initiatives and collaborative partnerships that advance the firm's community impact goals in target markets
Monitor and manage CRA Community Development Services requirements in applicable assessment areas and all CRA-related reporting requirements
Management and Leadership
Manage Mid-Atlantic Community Engagement team
Ensure Community Engagement budget delivers strategic use of investments such as: grants, events and sponsorships, memberships, and policy and research to drive community-centered solutions that are responsive to community needs
Serve in leadership role in local CR wide market coordination and market expansion activities
Represent the firm at key conferences and meetings and drive the development of content for internal and external distribution.
Cross Line of Business Collaboration and Integration
Act as strategic advisor to the firm's lines of business and to nonprofit partners on driving a racial equity agenda that aligns to our CR and firm-wide values
Support building awareness and visibility of the firm's community activities internally and externally
Develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders and colleagues across CR; creatively leverage the firm's assets and tools to drive impact
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an awareness of the unique social and political issues in communities in the mid-Atlantic, an ability to make strategic connections between issues and stakeholders, and a keen understanding of the policy and political environment to advance the firm's priorities. Other qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in a relevant field preferred
Minimum 7-10 years or relevant work experience in community engagement, policy, government program development and implementation, public-private partnerships, or philanthropy
Experience managing a team, evaluating skill sets, and fostering their professional development
Experience with and commitment to advancing issues of racial economic equity and inclusive economic growth
Experience with public policy and an ability to navigate political landscapes
Ability to negotiate deftly and build consensus across peers and business groups
Experience managing relationships with senior executive stakeholders
Creative, flexible and collaborative with an ability to work in a team-oriented environment; demonstrates a high degree of initiative; results-oriented, high level of attention to detail and deadlines
Outstanding written and oral communication skills; personal presence to represent the firm in diverse forums and organizational relationships
Future frequent regional travel possible as determined to be safe, allowed, and needed.
