Primary Objective: Responsible for coordinating core internal communications and communications processes and co-development of internal content, designed to foster increased employee engagement and morale.

Essential Functions:

  • Work closely, and collaboratively, with People & Culture Department to develop, and implement internal communication campaigns that drive awareness and engagement with the organization and People and Culture programs; connecting employees to one another.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Brand Communications and Vice President of People and Culture and DEI to develop content, optimizing internal communications channels. Measure employee communications engagement, recommend new channels and feedback mechanisms or recommend retiring existing ones as needed.
  • Collaborate with Technology Solutions, people leaders and external consultants to manage the SharePoint-based intranet. Work with department leads to strategize and implement SharePoint communications sites to meet internal communications goals. Guide processes to develop visual and editorial standards, and support teams to build out SharePoint sites.
  • Assist in telling stories to highlight the culture and benefits of working at the Seattle Mariners with prospective and current team members.
  • Develop and oversee a master internal communication calendar, highlighting departmental initiatives/projects for visibility across the organization, writing and editing onboarding announcements and coordinating with internal stakeholders
  • Develop content for internal communication channels. Assist in content creation for internal and external uses which reflects the consistent voice and brand image desired.
  • Work with a community of content creators and subject matter experts across the organization to share best practice and identify emerging needs and provide editorial leadership for internal communications intranet and other tasks related to improved engagement for Seattle Mariners employees.
  • Provide process and editorial support for messaging originating from People & Culture, Marketing and Communications and the President’s office.Repurpose stories developed for external communications to meet internal communications goals.
  • Assist with the creation and presentation of PowerPoint slide decks and other presentation materials for use in Rundown Live All Staff Meetings. and other large team meetings.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, internal corporate communications, journalism or other related field preferred. Equivalent, relevant work may be considered in lieu of formal education if approved by management.
  • A minimum of two to three (2-3) years of experience in internal communications, public relations or other communications. Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Wordpress preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging content for a variety of internal communications mediums including emails, handbooks, training material, as well as intranet sites for Front Office and Event Staff employees.

The anticipated salary for this role is $68,000.00 annually.
