PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER: DISINFORMATION, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI), & EMERGING TECH -
The Minority Staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee seeks a professional staff member (PSM) to lead the Committee’s work on disinformation, AI, and emerging tech. This is a new position on the committee. Primary duties include but are not limited to: leading the development and advancement of legislation; oversight and public messaging; engagement with the administration, industry and outside stakeholders; support of relevant subcommittees; creatively thinking of press and stakeholder engagement opportunities, and briefing Members of Congress and staff. This position is a policy position but will work closely with the committee’s communications team.
Exceptional writing, communication and organizational skills, collegiality, and professionalism are necessary. Applicant must demonstrate strong self-initiative and creativity in advancing policy. All applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Previous Hill experience and government background or substantial policy and private sector experience are important qualifications for this role. An advanced understanding of how developments in technology and disinformation intersect with foreign policy is expected. The right candidate will also have a strong understanding of foreign technology sales and the agencies involved in approvals.
